How to Roast Red Peppers in Oven or BBQ

Simple roasted red peppers. Very versatile ingredient for numerous dishes and condiments.

  • Red Bell Peppers


  1.  Wash bell peppers thoroughly.
  2.  Preheat outdoor grill or broiler to high.
  3.  Place whole red bell peppers on a baking sheet (for oven broiler method) or directly onto the grill and turn as the skin begins to blacken.
  4.  Once the entire pepper is mostly black, place it in a bowl loosely covered with a tea towel.
  5.  After about 20 minutes of resting, de-stem and de-seed the peppers, peeling off the outer blackened skin.
  6.  Use as required in recipes.


If some stubborn chunks of blackened skin remain clinging on, that's perfectly fine, and is preferred as it adds a subtle charred taste.
